If you use a Chinese SIM card or wifi, you will not be able to access Google, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Uber, etc.
However, if you use a foreign SIM card with roaming enabled, these websites are accessible.
Of course, using a Chinese SIM card with VPN also works, but it's not very stable.

Due to legal reasons, Google Maps' positioning is also inaccurate in mainland China. Therefore, you need to use alternative navigation software.

So, there are two essential apps that you should replace, and one app you need to install:

• Google Maps → AMap
• Uber → DiDi

Along with Alipay, mentioned in the Online Payment section, these three apps are enough to support your tour in China. The following app is a nice-to-have:

• Trip.com: You can check hotel and flight prices here; they might be cheaper.
• 12306: Official app to buy train ticket.
• WeChat: China's WhatsApp, register it when someone what to contact you, they can help you to pass the verification.
